Alexander Astrack

Alexander Astrack is Chairman of Astral Extracts, LTD.   He has extensive background in the Food Industry and is a recognized expert in the Flavor and Fragrance Industry for the past forty-five years.

Mr. Astrack is a recognized expert in the Food Industry graduating from the New York Institute of Dietetics.  He conducted active research in prolonging shelf life of various food types prior to starting Astral.  Mr. Astrack is active in both the New York and Florida Sections of the IFT, Past President of the New York Section IFT in 1968, Councilor for approximately fifteen years and is an emeritus member of the National IFT.  He is also an active member of the Fragrance Materials Association of the United States (FMA) and the Flavor and Extract Manufacturers' Association of the United States (FEMA).

Prior to his present position, Alexander Astrack was the founder of the Alexander Astrack Company, Inc.  As the founder, he built the company from its inception to the date of sale in excess of $75 million annually.  At that time Alexander Astrack Company, Inc. acted as importers, distributors, agents and manufacturers of specialty ingredients to the flavor and food manufacturing industry.

Mr. Astrack served as Assistant Director of Research of the Electronized Chemical Corporation, a company which was engaged primarily in the research of radiation and sterilization of foods.  In this capacity, he was the author of many articles related to the ionizing radiation sterilization of foods and was responsible for the performance of trained chemists in evaluating the results of radiation on various foodstuffs.  Articles appeared in Fortune, Chemical and Engineering Reporter magazines.

Mr. Astrack was President of the New York Institute of Food Technologies during the years 1967-68 and served on the Board of Directors of the local section from 1953 to 1975.  Mr. Astrack also served as Councilor to the National Institute of Food Technologies from 1962 to 1977 and has served as a guest speaker before technical group meetings.

As consultant to the food industry, Mr. Astrack was responsible to his clients for technical data related to the nutritional content of foods and assisted his clients in ingredient procurement on a worldwide basis as well as supplying specialty food manufacturing ingredients to the food industry.
